Drug Uses

Effexor is a potent inhibitor of the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, two neurotransmitters which play important roles in the pathophysiology of depression. Symptoms of depression are relieved by correcting the imbalance of these two chemicals in the brain.

Usage

Effexor comes in the form of an oral capsule. It should be taken with a meal and the capsule should not be divided, crushed, chewed, or placed in water. It is recommended that you swallow it with fluid. However, you may also carefully open the capsule, sprinkle the contents on a spoonful of applesauce and swallow it.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Storage

Store at room temperature 20–25°C (68–77°F) and avoid direct exposure to excess heat and moisture.

Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. Be careful when taking alcohol during your treatment. It may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Celexa. Consult your doctor before stopping taking Effexor. Stopping taking this drug suddenly may cause side effects to occur, therefore your doctor will probably gradually lower the dose of Effexor before stopping the treatment completely.

Dizziness and drowsiness
